Bring Them Up

“There is but one way to bring up a child in the way he should go and that is to travel that same way yourself.”

(Abraham Lincoln)

The Bible also says that we are to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4)

Most older adults today understand that the way they were brought up and the way children are being raised today are two totally different ways. And yet we, who are older, feel like we had a very good raising that built character and respect for those who were older!

This type of life is a surrendered life of obedience, committed to living by the principles of the Word of God. To better know how to bring up our children, we must understand the words “nurture” and “admonition”. Nurture is education or training especially in Christian attributes as well as admonition which means calling attention to by mild rebuke and warning. Giving them virtue – which means moral excellence, modesty, and purity!
