Happy Labor Day!

As we think of Labor Day, let us look at our labor for the Lord. In Matthew 5:16 we are told to let our light shine — we are to be lamplighters for Him. We read of the old lamplighters who went up and down the streets at dark, lighting the street lamps. They carried a light on a long pole to light the old gas lamps along the street. The lamplighter himself could not be seen, but as you looked down the street and saw the lights burning, you could see where he had been.

A little boy in Sunday School was thinking of the stained glass windows when he said, “A saint is a person that the light shines through.” Is your light shining for Jesus?

The Living Christ within makes a steady light without.
