The Lord’s Supper, or communion, is a time designated by the Scriptures as a “time of remembrance” as directed by the Lord Himself. Of course, we are to reflect upon what the Lord has done for us in that He provided payment for our sin and accepted us as His own. All this was done by His great sacrifice on Calvary as He shed His precious blood and bore in His body the marks of sin for us! This service is a special time to cherish the fact that we have been forgiven and that we are assured an eternity with the Lord in Heaven! The Scriptures also command us to “examine ourselves” to be sure we are where we should be in our relationship with the Lord prior to taking communion.
