Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, the holiday later was known as Presidents’ Day after it was part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act (three-day weekends). Presidents’ Day is now viewed as a day to celebrate ALL U.S. Presidents!
This federal holiday has always been a day of patriotic honor until recently when many of our past Presidents have been desecrated as being less than perfect. The “politically correct” crowd have rejected these men as being unfit for national honor. Many statues have been torn down and disrespected.
No one is perfect, but we respect their position and show appreciation for their accomplishments. When a nation rejects its past, then no one will be given respect and honor!
