LABOR DAY USED TO MEAN:
— Honoring workers with parades and company picnics and parties,
— School starting for all school-age children the day after,
— Marking the end of summer with a 3-day weekend,
— Marking the beginning of fall.
TODAY IT MEANS:
— Summer has ended,
— School has already been in session for 2+ weeks,
— Fall is right around the corner,
— A holiday – a 3-day weekend.
